▶ Introduction
As the financial paradigm shifts, digital currency has evolved from a future goal to a central focus of global policies and industrial strategies.
Stablecoins and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) are especially gaining attention as key factors that could reshape the international currency order.
A competition for global dominance in digital currency is also in full swing. Stablecoins, linked to the US dollar,
have become a transactional infrastructure that transcends national borders, while China is actively using the digital Yuan in its transactions.
The EU and Japan are taking the lead in shaping the digital currency landscape by dominating regulatory frameworks.
The paradigm shift in digital currency presents both challenges and opportunities for Korea. To gain an edge in the digital currency competition,
it is crucial for Korea, a powerhouse in fintech infrastructure, to develop strategies rooted in public-private cooperation.
Therefore, “Tokenomy Korea 2025” has created a platform for experts from both Korea and abroad to strategically discuss the “Digital Currency Big Bang: Stablecoin vs. CBDC.”
The event will kick off with a keynote speech by the Vice President of Digital Assets at the global asset manager Franklin Templeton.
This will be followed by the Global Finance Controller and General Manager of Tools For Humanity (TFH) - a company co-founded by Sam Altman,
the creator of ChatGPT - who will present a roadmap for digital certification and transaction integration in the AI era.
The Global Co-Head of Policy at Ripple, who also chairs the Stablecoin and CBDC Subcommittee of the Blockchain Association Singapore (BAS), will offer policy recommendations.
Korean financial leaders from the Bank of Korea, NH Bank, and more will also come together to explore how the traditional finance sector is responding to the trends.
Topics will include how to build a trustworthy stablecoin ecosystem through bank cooperation, the policy trends of key countries,
and discussions on legal and regulatory foundations, such as the introduction of a KRW-based stablecoin.
Tokenomy Korea 2025, an event held shortly after the launch of the new administration, will serve as a platform to provide in-depth insights into global trends,
policy directions, and industry strategies surrounding digital currency, while marking a key milestone in shaping future strategies for the Korean financial industry.
