▶ Introduction
As the financial market undergoes drastic changes, the asset operations of insurance companies are facing both new challenges
and opportunities. The drop in interest rates, due to the decrease in the base rate and concerns over an economic downturn,
is negatively affecting the robustness of insurance companies, highlighting the importance of asset management. Therefore,
it is time to reinforce the capability to respond to insurance companies’ interest rate risks by advancing the
ALM (Asset Liability Management) strategy, which strikes a balance between assets and liabilities.
On the other hand, as demand for guaranteed income after retirement increases along with population aging, it is becoming
increasingly important to improve profit rates to enhance the competitiveness of insurance companies’ pension products.
Amid these changes, diversification of alternative investments is garnering attention as an effective method for achieving
stable profits and distributing portfolio risks.
In light of this backdrop, the Korea Insurance Research Institute and Financial News will convene the 18th Global Insurance Symposium
on November 26 at the Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, under the theme “The Next Chapter in Insurance Asset Management:
An Era of Smart and Efficient Operations.”
At this symposium, experts from Korea and abroad will share their insights on digital transformation and operational efficiency
in the insurance industry. Discussions will focus on innovative strategies for smarter asset management and sustainable growth
in a rapidly changing financial environment.
